Tabula Rasa
Last Saturday, I spent hours clearing out a storage room at home and then drove to the recycling center to dispose of items I no longer needed. As I wandered through the rows of containers, I noticed the people around me—each one moving swiftly but with purpose, like a swarm of bees searching for their hive. They all had one thing in common: none of them seemed thrilled to be there, yet there was a quiet relief in their actions. It was as if letting go of stuff also meant shedding some emotional baggage they’d been carrying. Speaking only for myself, I can say with certainty that decluttering puts me in a tidied-up, tabula rasa state of mind.
Taking in the sight of all these containers packed with items from emptied closets I realized no wonder this place had developed a kind of energy all its own.
I made some small talk and unexpectedly - somewhere between the hard plastics and PMD - I found myself listening to an older lady share how she met her husband. It reminded me that you can connect with people anytime and literally anywhere :).
Driving home, I couldn't help but smile. Guess you could call it therapy.
Happy spring cleaning Tabula Rasa to all of you.

Living with the light
In the summertime I love to follow the rhythm of sunrise and sunset.
I do this by frequently sleeping with the curtains wide open. The sunlight and the birds wake me up early.
Magical morning hours follow. A lot of times I take the opportunity to jump on my bike or I just go walking and bird watching.
It is quiet outside, a lot of people are still sleeping. There are hardly any cars on the road and everything is kind of "waking up".
At the crack of dawn nature gets the breathing space it deserves.
Wandering about or cruising around puts a lot in perspective for me and often inspires me to look at things in a different way.
I feel connected to nature, grounded and grateful. A perfect state of mind to start the - sometimes challenging - day that follows.
Khalil Gibran put it in writing so well:
“We wanderers, ever seeking the lonelier way, begin no day where we have ended another day;
and no sunrise finds us where sunset left us.”

Today I would like to share a quote of William Blake, an English painter, poet, printmaker and visionary.
It brings a beautiful message: See the Great in the smallest.
A life goal for me.
To see a world in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower.
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.
